This is a recipe from my childhood. I remember making these at sleep-overs and every now and then I get a craving for them. I add a sprinkling of flaked sea salt, like maldon, to cut a bit of the sweetness. These are great to make ahead and take to a summer picnic.

Step preview

  1. Add corn syrup and granulated sugar to a clean saucepan
  2. Heat until boiling then set aside - medium heat
  3. Add peanut butter to the mixture
  4. Mix until smooth
  5. Add rice krispies to the mixture
  6. Fold slowly until combined
  7. Grease a clean rectangular pan
  8. Transfer mixture to rectangular pan and press down
  9. Add milk chocolate chips and butterscotch chips to a clean glass measuring cup
  10. Heat until melted while stirring occasionally - 45 sec, Power Level 7
  11. Transfer chocolate mixture to bars
  12. Spread until covered
  13. Sprinkle with sea salt
  14. Let cool until set
  15. Cut into squares
