This is a very versatile dinner roll dough that also works great for making your own burger or hot dog buns. They actually remind me a bit of the dinner rolls my grandma made when I was a kid.

- 320 ml

- Unsalted butter
- 5 tablespoons

- Granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon

- Quick-rise yeast
- 14 g

- All purpose flour
- 520 g

- Granulated sugar
- 50 g

- Salt
- 1 teaspoon

- Egg
- 1

- Unsalted butter
- 3 tablespoons

Step preview
- Add water and granulated sugar to a clean glass measuring cup
- Mix until sugar has dissolved
- Add quick-rise yeast to the yeast mixture
- Mix until dissolved then set aside
- Prepare
- Add all purpose flour, granulated sugar, salt, egg and unsalted butter to a clean medium bowl
- Transfer yeast mixture to dough
- Blend until dough forms
- Transfer dough to medium bowl
- Cover then set aside
- Add unsalted butter to a clean saucepan
- Cook until melted and let cool - low heat
- Transfer dough to lightly floured surface
- Form into balls
- Prepare a clean square pan
- Transfer dough balls to square pan
- Transfer half of content of saucepan to square pan
- Brush evenly until covered
- Cover then set aside
- Let rise until doubled - approx 45 min
- Bake - 8 min, 205°C
- Uncover
- Bake until light golden - 5 min, 205°C
- Transfer the rest of content of saucepan to square pan
- Brush evenly until covered
- Serve
