This quick and easy method of cooking rice tastes just the same as stove-top rice. It’s important to use just the right about of water, as too much or too little will affect the texture.

Step preview

  1. Scoop the rice into the microwave-safe container or pot
  2. Fill the pot with water and swish the water and rice with your hands
  3. Pour out the water, keeping the rice in the pot (just cup your hands around the rice to prevent it from pouring out)
  4. Add jasmine rice and water to a clean medium bowl
  5. The water should meet your first knuckle (ladies or men with small hands) and just under the first knuckle (men or ladies with big hands)
  6. For 1 1/2 cups of rice, this is approximately 2 1/4 cups of water
  7. Cover with lid
  8. Heat in microwave - 11 min, high heat
  9. Let rest on surface - 3 min
  10. If the rice tastes slightly undercooked, cook for an additional 1 minute on high
