A nice scone recipe that can be frozen before baking. If you place the scones on a tray and pop them into your freezer overnight before transferring to freezer bags, these scones can then be cooked directly from frozen. Very handy if you only have a few people in your household. Otherwise if these are for an event go ahead and make a whole load of these little scones.

Step preview

  1. Pre-heat oven - 200°C
  2. Add whole wheat flour, pastry flour, baking soda and salt to a clean large mixing bowl
  3. Add buttermilk, egg and butter to a clean medium bowl
  4. Transfer wet ingredients to dry ingredients
  5. Mix until just combined
  6. Turn dough out onto a floured surface and flatten by hand to about 4 cm thick
  7. Cut
  8. Transfer a clean baking sheet carefully
  9. Bake - 30 min, 200°C
