Step preview

  1. Rinse your dried peas well, then add all ingredients into the Instant Pot
  2. Close and lock the lid and turn the steam release handle to Sealing
  3. Set it for Manual / High Pressure for 15 minutes
  4. Let it do a 15 minute natural pressure release
  5. If the pin hasn’t dropped on it’s own, switch the knob to venting and release the rest of the pressure
  6. Fish out the bay leaf
  7. Pour the soup into a blender or use an immersion blender
  8. Blend until it’s very smooth
  9. Taste and season more if needed
  10. Some suggested optional toppings are: diced ham, crisp bacon bits, chopped scallions, grated cheddar cheese and toasted croutons
