- All purpose flour
- 170 g

- Granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon

- Salt
- ½ teaspoon

- Baking powder
- ½ teaspoon

- ¼ teaspoon

- Buttermilk
- 250 ml

- Egg
- 1

- Vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon

- Unsalted butter

Step preview
- Add all purpose flour, granulated sugar, salt, baking powder and baking soda to a clean large mixing bowl
- Whisk briefly until blended
- Add buttermilk, egg and vanilla extract to the batter
- Mix until just combined
- Add unsalted butter to a clean small bowl
- Melt - high heat
- Mix content of small bowl into batter until just combined
- Fry in frying pan - medium heat
- Serve immediately
