Step preview
- Pre-heat oven - 175°C
- Line 2 clean muffin pans
- Add all purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and baking soda to a clean medium bowl
- Whisk briefly until combined
- Add unsalted butter and granulated sugar to a clean stand mixer bowl
- Cream together until light and fluffy
- Add food coloring and vanilla extract to the batter
- Mix well
- Transfer dry ingredients to batter
- Add egg to the batter and mix
- Add buttermilk and apple cider vinegar to the batter
- Mix briefly until just combined
- Transfer batter to 2 muffin pans
- Bake until skewer tests clean - 20 min, 175°C
- Let cool completely
- Frost with piping bag
