Step preview
- Add eggs, fresh yeast, golden caster sugar, buttermilk and butter to the TM bowl
- Warm - approx 2 min, 37°C, speed 3
- Add salt and flour
- Mix with MC on - 15 sec, speed 6
- Knead - 3 min, dough
- Flour a clean work surface lightly
- Transfer content of TM5 bowl to work surface
- Form into tight ball
- Wrap with plastic wrap
- Refrigerate in fridge - 6-7 hr
- Roll dough out into large rectangle around the thickness of your finger
- Cut into smaller rectangles, either hot dog bun size or smaller square shapes
- Add extra virgin olive oil to a clean large saucepan
- Heat oil to 165-170ºC
- Fry 1 or 2 vetkoeks at a time until golden on all sides
- Drain with paper towels
- Add onion, dried chilies, garlic clove, curry powder, ground turmeric and extra virgin olive oil to the TM bowl
- Chop with MC on - 3 sec, speed 6
- Sauté - 5 min, Varoma, gentle stir
- Add carrot and apple
- Chop with MC on - 3 sec, speed 4
- Add ground beef, tomatoes and tomato sauce
- Cook - 20 min, 90°C, reverse gentle stir
- Scrape down sides of TM5 bowl
- Cook - 10 min, 80°C, reverse gentle stir
- Add peas and seasoning
- Stir - 10 sec, reverse gentle stir
- Allow to rest in Thermomix for at least 10 minutes (while you cook your donuts) before scooping into hot Vetkoeks
- Whilst still hot, slice in half, fill with curry or fillings of choice
- Serve
