Step preview

  1. To a microwave-safe deep bowl add the flour and butter
  2. Microwave on High for 45 seconds
  3. Using a spatula mix in the melted butter and flour to form a paste
  4. Add the milk, crushed garlic and whisk together as best as possible
  5. Microwave on High for 2 mins
  6. Whisk here for 30 seconds to remove any lumps
  7. Microwave on High for 30 seconds
  8. Whisk
  9. Microwave on High for 30 seconds

  11. Microwave for a final 30 seconds
  12. Whisk in the salt, pepper and cheese until the cheese is melted
  13. Whisk in the milk to slightly thin out the sauce and set aside
  14. Peel the potatoes and cut each one into 0.5cm slices and add them to your dish
  15. Drizzle them with some oil and seaon with salt and pepper
  16. Mix with your hands to get a light coating of oil on the potatoes
  17. Microwave on High for 3 mins
  18. Mix gently and microwave on High for a further 3 mins
  19. Pour the cheesy sauce over the potatoes and sprinkle the top with some more grated cheese
  20. Place the dish onto the wire rack
  21. Broil on High for 25 mins
  22. Serve hot or freeze in portions for later use
