This rich, slow-cooked pasta sauce will bubble away in the slow cooker while you're at work. Just add pasta, basil and parmesan when you get home and enjoy a quick, warming midweek dinner.

Step preview

  1. Heat sunflower oil on a clean medium cast iron skillet
  2. Add whole sausage and fry until lightly browned
  3. Transfer sausage to slow cooker bowl
  4. Add onion to the skillet and fry for 2 min
  5. Add button mushroom and garlic clove
  6. Reduce heat to medium and fry for another 2 min
  7. Add canned chopped tomatoes, beef stock and salt & pepper
  8. Boil while stirring occasionally
  9. Transfer sauce to the slow cooker bowl and cover
  10. Cook sausages until cooked through - 8 hr, low heat
  11. Boil tagliatelle pasta until al dente accordingly to the package instructions ~ 8min
  12. Drain the pasta
  13. Once finished cooking, slice or break up the sausages in the slow cooker bowl
  14. Add tagliatelle to the sauce in the slow cooker bowl and mix together
  15. Garnish with fresh basil leaves and parmesan cheese
  16. Serve
