Step preview

  1. Pre-heat oven - 200°C
  2. Grease a clean loaf pan
  3. Add salted butter and molasses to a clean saucepan
  4. Melt - low heat
  5. Add whole wheat flour, all purpose flour, baking soda, oats and turbinado sugar to a clean large mixing bowl
  6. Mix until combined
  7. Make a well
  8. Add stout and buttermilk to the batter
  9. Transfer wet ingredients to batter
  10. Mix briefly until just combined
  11. Transfer batter to loaf pan
  12. Cut
  13. Dust with whole wheat flour
  14. Bake - 10 min, 200°C
  15. Bake until hollow-sounding when tapped - 30 min, 170°C
  16. Let cool - 5 min
  17. Turn out on round wire rack until completely cool
