Seared tender sirloin and stir-fried broccoli are piled on top of crunchy sourdough in this unusual bruschetta recipe. The fresh and zingy dressing brings everything together. These crunchy little open steak sandwiches would make a fabulous lunch or sensational starter.

- 500 g

- Extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tablespoons

- Salt & pepper
- 1 pinch

- Bread slices
- 4 slices

- Garlic clove
- 2

- Balsamic vinegar
- 1 tablespoon

- Arugula
- 125 g

Medium cast iron skillet
Step preview
- Add water and salt to a clean saucepan
- Heat until boiling
- Add broccoli to the saucepan
- Cook quickly - approx 2 min
- Drain
- Pat dry with paper towels
- Add steak to a clean work surface
- Rub in extra virgin olive oil the meat
- Season with salt & pepper
- Pre-heat a clean medium cast iron skillet - high heat
- Transfer meat to medium cast iron skillet
- Sear each side until browned - approx 2 min
- Remove and let cool - approx 5 min
- Transfer meat to work surface
- Slice thinly
- Add bread slices to the medium cast iron skillet
- Toast then set aside
- Add extra virgin olive oil, garlic clove and fresh chili to a clean frying pan
- Fry - approx 1 min, high heat
- Transfer drained broccoli to the oil mixture
- Fry - approx 1 min, high heat
- Stir balsamic vinegar into the frying pan then reduce heat
- Transfer broccoli to large mixing bowl
- Transfer meat to large mixing bowl
- Toss with arugula
- Assemble by topping each toast piece with some of the steak and broccoli mixture
