Step preview

  1. Add dried navy beans and water to a clean large mixing bowl
  2. Soak overnight in water
  3. Drain with sieve
  4. Transfer to a clean Dutch oven
  5. Add water to the beans until covered
  6. Add baking soda and onion to the beans
  7. Heat until boiling
  8. Simmer - 15 min
  9. Pre-heat oven - 120°C
  10. Add bacon, ground cloves, cayenne pepper, molasses, brown sugar, salt and dijon mustard to a clean small bowl and mix
  11. Add mixture to beans
  12. Stir well until combined
  13. Cover with foil
  14. Bake - approx 5 hr, 120°C
  15. Serve
