Step preview

  1. Pre-heat oven - 179°C
  2. Add all purpose flour, butter, egg and egg yolk to a clean food processor bowl
  3. Blend until dough forms
  4. Transfer content of food processor bowl to work surface
  5. Knead
  6. Wrap with plastic wrap
  7. Chill in fridge - 1 hr
  8. Roll out on lightly-floured surface until 1/4" thick
  9. Press dough into tart pan
  10. Trim
  11. Chill in fridge - 1 hr
  12. Line with parchment paper
  13. Fill with pie weights
  14. Bake until light golden - 12 min, 179°C
  15. Remove with parchment paper
  16. Remove pie weights
  17. Bake - 2 min, 179°C
  18. Remove and Let Cool
  19. Heat butter and olive oil to a clean frying pan
  20. Add onion and fresh thyme to the onion mixture
  21. Fry in frying pan until golden brown - 20 min, low heat
  22. Remove
  23. Spread onion mixture with pastry
  24. Add egg, milk and double cream to a clean medium bowl
  25. Season with salt & pepper
  26. Whisk until well combined
  27. Transfer egg mixture to pastry
  28. Bake until just set - 10 min, 179°C
  29. Arrange tomato and anchovies in the pastry
  30. Bake until set - 12 min, 179°C
  31. Let cool on round wire rack - 5 min
  32. Serve
