Step preview

  1. Heat sunflower oil on a clean medium cast iron skillet on the high heat
  2. Add pork shoulder and fry until lightly browned
  3. Transfer pork to slow cooker bowl
  4. Add leek to the skillet and fry until softened - 3 min
  5. Stir in all purpose flour, then mix in cider and chicken stock gradually
  6. Add carrot, apple, salt & pepper and fresh sage
  7. Boil while stirring occasionally
  8. Transfer content of medium cast iron skillet to slow cooker bowl and cover
  9. Cook in slow cooker until tender - 8 hr, low heat
  10. Mix self raising flour, shortening, fresh sage, fresh parsley and salt & pepper into a clean small bowl
  11. Pour water and mix with tablespoon until dough forms
  12. Cut into 12 pieces and roll into balls
  13. Transfer dough balls to slow cooker bowl and cover
  14. Cook in slow cooker - 1 hr, low heat
  15. Serve
