Sausages and beans are a match made in heaven. Here they're slow-cooked with tomatoes and bell peppers to create a moreish stew that's best served with plenty of buttered toast for scooping up the sauce.

Step preview

  1. Heat sunflower oil to a clean medium cast iron skillet
  2. Add onion and fry until softened for 5 min
  3. Stir in smoked paprika and cook for 1 min
  4. Mix in canned navy beans, wholegrain mustard, worcestershire sauce and vegetable stock
  5. Bring to the boil
  6. Stir in tomato, red bell pepper and salt & pepper
  7. Add frankfurter sausage to a clean slow cooker bowl and top with beans and sauce
  8. Cook in slow cooker - 9 hr, low heat
  9. Serve with bread slices
