  1. Add onion, cloves, carrot, canned black beans, bay leaves and cured ham to a clean slow cooker bowl
  2. Add cola, dark brown sugar, tomato paste and English mustard to a clean saucepan
  3. Heat until just boiling while stirring occasionally
  4. Transfer sauce to slow cooker bowl and cover
  5. Cook - 6 hr 30 min, high heat
  6. Strain the cooking liquid into a saucepan
  7. Boil rapidly for 10 minutes to reduce by half
  8. Slice ham thinly, arrange with the vegetables, beans, and a drizzle of sauce
